....CALKE ABBEY’S FLYING PROMS.... “Spectacular Spitfire display and fabulous fireworks finale” Saturday 9th August 2008 The English National Orchestra at Calke Abbey , with a programme of popular classics, film themes and all the firm favourites associated with “Last Night Of The Proms”, begins with a dramatic aerial display by an original WW2 Spitfire, whilst the orchestra performs the rousing Dambusters March and 633 Squadron. The evening will end with a show - stopping fireworks finale to accompany the flag-waving frenzy of Rule Britannia and Land of Hope & Glory. If you’ve never been to an open air concert you’re in for a treat - this year’s concert promises to be the 'must see' event in the region! Bring your own picnic…
